David Morton, and his wife stayed for a week in early October. On October 5th he caught in the Top stream and returned, a 31/2 lb grilse with a Black & orange Double size 10
On 9th October Mike Smith caught a 14lb salmon on the fly in the Mile marker.
Matthew and son Rory started to fish on Monday 12th October , and the river was low and clear. Rory unfortunately saw and lost a fish on Monday afternoon .
On October16th Tim Fell visited from Lincolnshire, and he is a keen Grayling fisherman. He had some great sport caught and retunred approx 20 small grayling with nymphs and spiders.
On Tuesday 19th just as the sun was beginning to shine, Matthew’s wife Julie and daughter Fibi came to see him by the Pulpit Pool, and that point he struck lucky, for all to see and caught a fresh 7lb salmon with a munro killer 12 fly ! Julie and Fibi caried the fish back up to cottage while Matthew carried on fishing!!
Matthew then moved to the Pylon Pool and caugt a 3 lb sea trout , which he returned.
Friday 22nd Rory caught a beautiful silver 9lb salmon in the Mile Marker Pool, with a Munro Killee 14 fly. This was his first salmon.
Fergus Liggins (18yeras) at Newcastle Uni joined his family for the Friday evening to fish on Saturday 23rd. However the rain poured down all Friday evening, whcih put a dampner on Saturday’s fishing . The river rose and rose!
