August has seen some good sport beginning on 1st August when Mike Carr who was staying on the estate caught a 1lb sea trout in Mile Marker pool.
Father & son Duo Nick and Mattie Wilkinson who are annual and regular visitors to the Tiptoe beat visited for the week 3rd August, and had some good sport.
On Monday 3rd August they caught 1 salmon – 7lb
1 Grilse 4lb
1 sea trout 3lb in the Long Flats Pool. The water dropped a little, but on 8th August Nick caught an 8lb salmon in the Pulpit Pool on a mepps spinner.
All fish returned.

We had 2 gentlemen visiting for the day on 19th August and they caught 2 8lb salmon in the Top Stream, and Tiptoe Throat with a stoats Tail fly.
Many of the fishermen are catching brown trout.
Tim Robert’s who stayed for the week caught an 8lb salmon in the Old Egypt Pool (No. 5) THEN Storm Francis arrived, and the river began to rage in the shade of chocolate colour. Take a look at below video.
August recovered juts in time!
Monday 31st August was the next best day as the water was slowly subsiding. Kelvin Russell, and Sam Pattinson booked their 2 days through Fishpal, and they had some excellent sport.
On 31st Kelvin caught an 9lb Salmon (returned) in the Long Flats Pool (No 2) on a Flying C. Kelvin also caught 2 sea trout 5lb and 3lb in the Long Flats.

On 31st August at 7.30 pm Neil Sullivan who is staying at Tiptoe caught & returned a salmon in the Pump House Pool. 11 Neil said ” Truly, the most beautiful fish I have ever seen” This catch end the August Report very nicely!
